One case from her past defines homicide detective Abby Hart.
With a possible serial killer stalking elderly women in Long Beach, California, Abby’s best lead is Luke Murphy, an irritating private investigator who saw a suspect flee the scene of the latest homicide. When Abby discovers that the most recent victim is related to the governor, she’s anxious to talk to him about a cold case that’s personal to her—one Luke is interested in as well.
As she learns more about the restaurant fire that took her parents’ lives years ago, Abby discovers why Luke is so invested in finding the ones responsible. The more they uncover, though, the more questions they have. Can Abby find peace without having all the answers?

Summary
Detective Abby Hart has investigated a myriad of homicides in Long Beach, California, but there is one cold case in particular that she is determined to solve; her parents\' murder. When private investigator Luke Murphy crosses her path as a witness to a local murder, they inadvertently discover that he has an intense desire to solve the very same case. Would it be possible to pool their resources? Pushing aside mutual attraction and an interim commanding officer\'s reticence to have Abby officially involved in such a personal case, Abby and Luke dare to draw the attention of those who might have been involved in the Triple Seven incident where three people died, two structures burned to the ground and Abby was miraculously rescued. This nicely paced suspense novel should really score 3.5 stars for its ingenuity, fascinating story line and promise of more to come!
