Summary
This story builds slowly and draws the reader in, though never quite letting you know what is going on until close to the end. Sophia goes to Charleston to spend a summer with her friend who strangely lives alone in a house near the beach, even though she is high school age. There Sophia meets a mysterious young man named Tate and romance sparks between them. But things aren’t exactly what they seem and soon Sophia learns the dark secrets they have been keeping from her.
This story definitely sucked me in and kept me turning the pages. Loved how the author kept the suspense moving through the storyline. The romance between Sophia and Tate is sweet, but I struggled with the introduction of Aaron and was left a little confused by the ending. It seemed like things weren’t quite clear as to what happened, but maybe a sequel is planned.
There is some kissing and making out in bed, but no explicit sex. The alcohol use by teens is in the context of addressing some serious issues about drinking and driving for the characters and important to the overall message of the story.
