Description
Special Agent Kira Miller’s new career at the FBI has started–in translations. It’s not the opportunity she was hoping for to show off her skills, until she detects a lead in some paperwork. Now assigned an undercover role, she’s in her element as she gathers intel on an art smuggling ring. She’s daunted not by the mission but by her cover–posing as a married woman to the fake husband she met less than twenty-four hours earlier.
Special Agent Bryce Lambert’s assignment to go undercover as a newlywed couple with Kira has the two of them moving next door to the prime suspects, and a relationship is the last thing he wants, fake or real. With secret auctions and hidden treasures, there’s plenty to keep them busy–if only they can play the part their lives and careers depend upon while keeping their own hearts in check.
Romantic suspense novelists Lynette Eason and Kelly Underwood collaborate in this fast-paced, clean thriller delivering fake-dating tension, forced proximity, and FBI intrigue–perfect for fans of Elizabeth Goddard, Irene Hannon, Dani Pettrey, and edge-of-your-seat reads.

Summary
If you follow my reviews, you already know I'm a huge fan of Lynette Eason! But I have to admit, I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to feel about a treasure-hunting storyline. It isn't necessarily the type of suspense that immediately grabs my attention.
Well, I should have known better! Once again, Lynette delivered, this time teaming up with coauthor Kelly Underwood for Deadly Charade. This is book one in FBI New Recruits.
The action starts in the very first chapter and doesn't let up! I loved that the mystery kept me guessing, especially because I was constantly questioning who the good guys really were and who else might be involved. Just when I thought I had a handle on things, I found myself wondering if I could trust the characters I thought I could!
I also really liked both main characters. Kira was one of the new recruits along with her two friends. She was especially intriguing, and I loved her unique talents and how they played into the story. The romance was really well done, too. Sometimes with so much action and suspense, the romance can feel like an afterthought, but that wasn't the case here. I thoroughly enjoyed both aspects of the story.
And I'm already looking forward to future books featuring Kira's two friends! I love when an author introduces secondary characters who make you curious enough to start anticipating their stories before you've even finished the first book.
If you enjoy romantic suspense with nonstop action, a mystery that keeps you questioning everyone's motives, and a romance worth rooting for, I definitely recommend this one.
And if you're like me and aren't sure a treasure-hunting storyline is your thing, don't let that stop you. I almost did, and I would have missed a really good book!
