Summary
Dangerous Passages is book one in the Southern Crimes series set in Atlanta. The book opens with Avery and Jackson already in a relationship which may make readers assume there was another book before it but there is not. Avery is a police officer who is working what she thinks is a serial killer case which also leads to human trafficking. Jackson is the medical examiner who has been working with her and they have developed a relationship. Avery appears very human as she tries to balance being a police officer, a mother to a tween, a widow of three years and the daughter of a needing mother. As much as she is attracted to Jackson and would like to develop the relationship she tries to determine does she have the time and energy for it. I think this will strike a chord with many working single mothers. Jackson is charming and understanding you will cheer for him and want to convince Avery to commit to making the relationship work. I enjoyed the mystery and did not find it too disturbing although it does deal with human trafficking. Dangerous Passages is a Christian novel that is not preachy. It has a strong mystery element complimented with the sweet developing romance between Avery and Jackson.
