Summary
Critical Witness is another solid addition to the Black Tower series, though not my personal favorite so far. Hannah wants to be a reporter—definitely not my preferred vocation for a heroine if you’ve followed my reviews—and she ends up witnessing a murder. Hoping to use the situation to gain credibility as a writer, she quickly finds herself in over her head as both the Black Tower team and the villains race to track her down and uncover what she knows.
Critical Witness is book three in a tightly connected series. The recurring characters, the overarching mystery, and the ongoing search for answers about the Syndicate all keep me fully invested. And yes—I am absolutely ready for Tank to get his story!
The romance in this installment wasn’t as believable for me. I felt the relationship needed more time to develop, and I struggled to see Will's attraction to Hannah since she was deceitful for much of the book.
Still, Critical Witness offers an engaging plot, rising tension, and familiar Black Tower faces, making it a worthwhile read as the series builds toward future stories. I'm definitely continuing on!
