What do you like about this book:
There is a quote by Margaret Mead that reads “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” That quote encompasses the heart of this book. Brian and Karen live in what is considered a “rough” neighborhood. Brian is injured on his job and a neighbor he has never met before shows up at just the right time to mow his yard in the summer and shovel his snow in the winter. Brian learns that not everything can be taken at face value and that small acts can make a big difference.
This is a clean book with a heartwarming and much needed message. It’s about neighbors who learn to care about each other and work together to make a difference. The are no curse words or sex scenes in the book. There is some violence, but is is not overly graphic. I think this book should become required reading for high school and college! Highly recommend.
