When she receives the news in late 1944 that her baby’s father was shot down in the South Pacific, Amelia Richards loses hope. Jobless and broke, she has nowhere to turn for help but her infant’s paternal grandparents. The only problem is, they don’t know that she–or their grandson–exists. When Amelia discovers that the family is wealthy and influential, dare she disclose the truth of her relationship with their son? Or could the celebration of the arrival of another unexpected baby nearly two thousand years ago be the answer to her dilemma?
Beloved author Melody Carlson pens a story of love, hardship, and reconciliation that will leave readers filled with Christmas joy.

Summary
I just love a good Christmas book and the Christmas Blessing by Melody Carlson is definitely going to be on the top of the list. It's a historical written in the 1944 timeframe. Amelia had fallen immediately in love with a soldier. Although this is a Christian book there is premarital sex as the books opens with Amelia having a 3 month old little boy. Amelia didn’t realize she was pregnant before Jimmy left to go back to war. He doesn't make it back. He's called back before they can get married although he does have a marriage license. So she is left raising the baby on her own. She tracks down his parents to let them know about their grandson. It's a sad story of a parent who lost their son and a wife who's lost her husband. However it does have a sweet happy ending for Christmas. Amelia was a strong female lead even though she was in a very bad situation. I like that she had her own job even back in 1944. She was a hairdresser.
