Summary
Review provided by Stormi Johnson: Overall here’s no one she can trust to save her. I have not ever heard of this author but I was given the chance to read this series by a publicist at pocket book so I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed the storyline of this book and all the characters, but there was some things I just didn't like which is why it got poorer marks than I would like to have given it. Abby is a snarky, young mortal who is a touchstone to Moira the protectorate. She has only been her touchstone for a little while and for most of that time Moira has been gone. She left a note telling Abby she would be back soon and that was four months ago. Abby really didn't think much of it until Brystion, an incubus, came looking for Moria because his sister is missing. This really throws Abby's world upside down as she is in just as much danger as those that are missing. Not only is she falling for an incubus, but she herself gets kidnapped and then she finds out more about herself than he new before. Things that if Moira would have told her about before she touchstoned it could have save her a lot of grief. Brystion is a sexy when he has his glamour on and he turns all the ladies heads, but that is normal for an incubus as they feed on sex and dreams. I am not sure of my feelings for him a part of my liked him and a part of me didn't. I understand that he is a creature who comes through dreams, has sex with you in your dreams that is how they survive but I just though there was just a little to much of it for me. I don't mind sex in a book but I don't read erotic novels because I don't want a book wrapped around sex and this one to me was bordering on that type of novel. The other thing that I didn't rightly care for and really was the biggest reason for my lower rating and that was the fowl mouth the author gave Abby. I don't mind a bit of language here and there as I can see warrant for it from time to time, but when I have to cringe almost every time the lady spoke, then it was a bit to much for me. Sometimes I felt that she could spout so much it could make a sailor blush and I just found that it didn't make the story any better. The storyline of the novel, though confusing at time was great. I just felt that the author couldn't write a decent dialogue without throwing in a lot of fowl language as if it would help with the word count or something.
Over all, I did as I have said enjoyed the storyline, though it really is much more of a paranormal romance than urban fantasy as it is called. I think this will make those who like UF not like this novel as well. I do think that if you like this type of novel you might give it a try and come to your own conclusions. I have the next two novels so I will be continuing to see that kind of trouble Abby gets into.
Violence Their was a few fight scenes but I don't think it was overly descriptive.
Language I found it to be very vulgar which as you will see in my review why I gave it such a low score. I really enjoyed the plot of the story but it was ruined by language that just didn't need to be there to keep the story going.
Sexual The main character gets together with an Incubus, which is a creature who feeds on sex dreams so you can take it from there. It was on the verge for me of being an erotic novel..a few more scenes and it would have crossed the line.
Drug & Alcohol Things happen in a bar called the Hallow, but honestly I can't remember if there was a lot of alcohol related talking.
