Summary
Overall Janette Oke doesn't disappoint! Wynn and Elizabeth's story continues with some emotional heart aches. As the women all around Elizabeth are getting pregnant and
giving birth, she is desperate to have her own child, too, but month after month passes with no fulfillment of her desire. In two different situations her heart's desire is tempered when she and Wynn are called upon to care for and provide a home for indian children. The reader finds themselves deliriously happy for this couple and celebrating their foster parenthood. But just as quickly it seems, we are left grieving with them when the situation changes and the children go elsewhere. Ms. Oke perfectly captures the desperate emotions a woman (and a man) would feel in the situation. I appreciate that she doesn't paint Elizabeth out to be a Pollyanna type character, but instead gives us a glimpse into Elizabeth's struggle with God over her heartache. By this third book, I am totally in love with these characters especially Elizabeth and Wynn. I was also able to further relate to Elizabeth's fastidiousness with the appearance of her home, yet how she had to learn to be flexible in even that.
Violence Thief selling \"firewater\" to indians then stealing their furs leads to murder. Not explicit in the least.
Drug & Alcohol Selling of illegal \"firewater\" to indian trappers.
