From the author of the best-selling Christy Miller and SisterChicks series comes a new book of community, friendship, and tackling the hard things of life with God and loved ones around a table.
Five young moms, including beloved Gunn character Christy Miller, gather to share meals and soon become unlikely best friends. The regular gatherings provide opportunities for the women to reveal their stories, and those life stories endear them to each other. They experience their lives naturally meshing as they raise their children together in community. In Becoming Us the group find ways to challenge, encourage, and help each other become the nurturing mothers they wished they’d had when they were growing up. They unite to be remembered for what they do as moms and not for what was done to them.

What do you like about this book:
Emily and Trevor have moved to California to start a new life apart from his wonderful, but sometimes overbearing family. Being a bit on the shy side, Emily does not make friends easily. She met Jennalyn at the grocery store and agreed to attend a tea at her house. At the last minute, she almost backed out. Now, she is glad she went. The ladies she met at Jennalyn’s home are super nice. Could this mean she will finally feel as though she really belongs?
This is a great book about female friendship and the struggles we face to be accepted and belong to a group. The characters are so rich and welcoming I found myself longing to be a part of their group. I especially enjoyed the welcome to womanhood scene for Emily’s daughter. I found this book to be both very uplifting and empowering. I highly recommend it.
