Summary
Overall Ashes and Ice is the second book in Tracie Peterson's Yukon Quest series. A supremely talented historical fiction author, Mrs. Peterson created a dramatic story set during the Yukon gold rush of the late 1890s. One might think the times of the gold rush are full of adventure, and they would be correct. But with the adventure
came much danger. While many flooded the region to gain great wealth, more likely they ended up suffering great losssome losing their very lives when they threw all caution aside and allowed greed to guide them. It is really a cautionary tale wrapped up in a story of love. The underlying love story is the one of God's great love for us, and that it must be foundational in each of our lives. This love plays itself out in the lives of multiple characters in the novel. Mrs. Peterson is faithful to a solid Biblical worldview in her character's dialogue. Her books are always an enjoyable and engaging read.
