Summary
Reviewer Name: JoMama I really enjoyed reading this book, especially the prologue! I loved how the author weaved in a bit of history at the beginning with Kate Bender and her family. I had never heard about \"the bloody Benders,\" so that was fun for me and I wanted to learn more about them. (If you want children to be interested in history, give them something to be interested about! As they learn about the Bender family, you could take them into more history from that time, such as the Osage trail.) This book is intended for ages 1 2 and up, as it could be too scary for younger children. The author did a great job with keeping it suspenseful as well as adding some humor. I liked how the kids worked together and how the parents did their best to protect their children while trying to do their job. I thought it was so clever that the monster hunter organization is called S.T.O.K.E.R, after Dracula's author, Bram Stoker. I felt that this book had a little more of the flavor of Stoker's vampires and hunters than has been popular lately. Dracula and Alec Kerley and the Wrath of the Vampire both had a religious element to it, which I appreciated, and I enjoyed having . I would recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
