Audiobook Review: Across the Ages by Gabrielle Meyer
Across the Ages is book four in Gabrielle Meyer’s Timeless series, and I continue to be amazed by how she keeps finding fresh and creative ways to expand this fascinating concept. Four books in, and I’m still completely captivated!
Caroline lives in two different time periods, 1727 and 1927, but unlike the characters in the previous books, she has no one to explain why this is happening to her or what it means. Her search for answers, particularly about her mother, adds another layer of mystery to the time-crossing premise.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure how much I was going to enjoy the 1727 pirate storyline. Well, I shouldn't have worried! Somewhere along the adventure, I fell for Markus/Maxwell right along with Caroline. 😊
In 1927, Caroline is the daughter of a preacher, and once again Meyer creates circumstances that left me wondering, How is she possibly going to make all of this work out? By this point in the series, I should trust her and yet I still find myself trying to solve the puzzle. Once again, she brought everything together beautifully.
There is also a very special connection to the previous books that I absolutely loved. I won't say who Caroline gets to visit because discovering it is part of the fun, but longtime readers of the series are in for a treat.
What continues to impress me is Meyer’s ability to take the same basic time-crossing premise and make every book feel completely different. New historical periods, new complications, new romances and every time, a new mystery surrounding how everything can possibly end happily.
I'm listening to the Timeless series on audio and highly recommend it. Just one warning: clear your calendar before you start. I planned to try one book and somehow ended up bingeing the entire series! 😊
