Summary
A Love Like Ours is my first book by Becky Wade. I read it in less than 48 hours. I have a sweet spot for military men and Jake with all his flaws was still a hero. A love Like Ours opens with a childhood scene between Jake and Lyndie. It helps set the stage on their relationship. We then fast-forward 20 years to Lyndie moving back to Texas to help her parents with Mollie. Mollie is her younger sister who has had a serious illness her whole life. Jake has returned from the Marines with PSTD and is a horse trainer on his family's ranch. Lyndie tries to get Jake to hire her to be work with the horses. The author creates some interesting scenes around the ranch and horse training. Lyndie works with Jake’s thoroughbred Silver Leaf and tries to determine why he will not run. In addition to her work at the stables she has a secondary income as an author and illustrator of children’s books. We also have a secondary story between Will and Amber that is adorable. I really liked the friendship between Amber and Lydia and the family dynamics in both Lydia and Jake’s families. This is the third book in the series but it stands alone and I feel that they can be read out of order as I had not read the others yet but I plan to get them now. I recommend A Love Like Ours.
