Description
American heiress Calliope Hart is thrust into London’s high society against her will, all because her mother is determined to marry her off to an aristocrat. Despite being named “the debutante of the season” back in New York, Calliope wants nothing more than to avoid becoming another pawn in the social game.
Edward Chase, the Earl of Hayward, is on the brink of financial ruin. To save his estate, he must marry, and Calliope Hart is his last hope. When he boldly declares his intentions, she swiftly rejects him, making it clear she has no interest in marrying for convenience. Undeterred, Edward offers a deal: He will escort Calliope to all the best sights of London that she’s been dying to see if she agrees to visit his estate and consider what they could accomplish together.
What begins as a business arrangement soon sparks something much more complicated–an undeniable chemistry neither can ignore. But as their hearts begin to soften, both must confront their fears: Can Calliope trust Edward with her heart, and can Edward truly win her love when she’s convinced he only wants her fortune?
A no-spice, clean and wholesome historical romance with a delightful mix of witty banter and charming romance set in Edwardian England. Read if you like the marriage of convenience, enemies-to-lovers, and he-falls-first tropes, Alexandra Vasti, Evie Dunmore, Sophie Irwin, and Martha Waters.

Summary
Book Review: The Deal with the Debutante by Chelsea Bobulski
The Deal with the Debutante by Chelsea Bobulski is a fun and sweet historical romance that made for an enjoyable read. As the first book in the series, it does a wonderful job introducing the characters and friendships, and I was especially happy to learn that Calliope’s friends will each get their own stories in future books.
Calliope is an American heiress from New York City who is sent to England by her mother with one goal in mind—to secure a husband with a title. However, Calliope loves her life back in New York and feels passionate about the meaningful work she is doing there. One of the more compelling parts of the story is seeing her struggle with how differently she is treated in England, especially by men who are primarily interested in her fortune rather than who she truly is.
Edward is one of the eligible gentlemen who also finds himself in need of a wealthy marriage, and he decides to pursue Calliope. I loved Edward from the very beginning. He was charming, thoughtful, and easy to root for as the story unfolded.
One of my favorite aspects of the book was the way Bobulski structured their growing relationship. Edward spends a week showing Calliope around London, followed by a week hosting her at his country estate. This setup gave the romance time to develop naturally and allowed readers to really enjoy their growing connection and chemistry.
Overall, The Deal with the Debutante is a charming historical romance filled with heart, humor, and engaging characters. I’m definitely looking forward to continuing the series.
