What do you like about this book:
"Oh my brother. Would to God the world could see you as I do, could know the tender heart that lives inside such a hideous ruin."
On the cusp of realizing her dream, travel journalist Amelia Balfour is summoned back to her childhood home in order to administrate her father's final directives; guardianship of her younger brother and ensuring that the surgery Grafton Balfour had arranged to alleviate Colin's multiple deformities did indeed take place. Even from the grave, Amelia's father was ordering her about.
Former naval surgeon Graham Lambert is more than ready to begin a new life, so after his aggressive procurement of a partnership with one of Bristol's highly esteemed physicians, he becomes acquainted with Colin Balfour and his lovely sister, Amelia. As Graham assists Dr. Uriah Peckwood in Colin's pre-surgery treatments, unease begins to settle, something isn't quite right about the entire affair.
Meanwhile, the more time Graham spends around Amelia, the more time he wants to spend with her; it seems that they both are struggling with life's unknowns, wondering how to trust what they see around them to a God who remains unseen and yet intricately involved.. . . . it all came down to faith. . . learning, knowing that "the Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble . . " for in trouble was exactly where Graham and Amelia were going to find themselves.
Swathed in mystique, "Lost In Darkness" harbors multiple secrets, making it an interesting, intriguing, and quite romantic read; but perhaps more importantly, the author has used what most would consider broken and hideous on the outside to remind readers that in the eyes of our Creator, it is what resides in our hearts that truly matters.
"I grant you that we cannot know the mind of God on this side of heaven . . . "
