"I need to tell you something really serious. And kind of scary."
The last words spoken from the mouth of an extremely frightened young girl, and she had every reason to be . . . . at least that is what her Aunt Ingrid determined after the fact. When Ingrid Storset meets newcomer Nils Lindherud, she cannot believe that her sister Belle would withhold any information about his missing brother Sven; yes, Sven had answered Belle Gunness' ad for a husband, yes Sven had been in LaPorte, Indiana, but yes, many men came and went who didn't end up marrying Belle.
After racking up more questions that answers, Nils Lindherud is convinced that hog farmer Belle Gunness is up to no good; however, proving it is an entirely different matter altogether. Her lovely younger sister is cooperative, but Ingrid believes the best of others and unfortunately Nils is thinking the worst.
Based on some terribly gruesome, grizzly history, "The Gold Digger" pulls back the dirt (so to speak)on what really went on in LaPorte, Indiana. Thankfully Nils and Ingrid provide readers with some sweet moments and thoughtful prayers, for both characters end up leaning heavily on the Almighty's everlasting arms. A fascinating (in a morbid sort of way) addition to the "True Colors" series.
