A year ago, ex-Delta Force operator Steven Roark left the rigors of combat behind to run fishing charters in Hope Harbor, decompress, and talk some sense into his kid brother. Business is good–but making peace with his past is more challenging than he expected.
First-grade teacher Holly Miller leads a quiet, low-profile existence–until she’s recruited to advocate for a cause that’s dear to her heart. When she solicits Steven’s assistance, sparks fly–especially after they find themselves on opposite sides of an issue that disrupts their placid seaside community.
As these two seemingly incompatible souls search for common ground, might they discover a deeper connection–and find that love can banish darkness and light the way to a future filled with promise?
Bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon invites you back to Hope Harbor–where hearts heal . . . and love blooms.

Summary
Starfish Pier by Irene Hannon is part of the Hope Harbor series. Irene once again proves that she is at the pinnacle of Christian contemporary romance; not just romantic suspense. Her books are filled with character that you will come to love; both the main characters and the secondary characters.
Irene created an interesting and unique character in Holly. I don’t want to spoil it for you but Holly is the survivor of a childhood illness/disability. Not only did it add depth to her character but it also gave the reader a perspective of what someone would go through. And that strength is not just being physically strong.
Steven has retired from the military to come home and help his brother. Irene did an excellent job of the relationship between Steven and his brother Patrick and how tough love is not always the answer. Steven and Holly are attracted to each other but have major obstacles in their way regarding their beliefs and not just their religious beliefs.
Patrick and his wife, Cindy were a beautiful and realistic representation of a couple coming together to fight an overwhelming obstacle. And Pete, Holly’s next door neighbor has a beautiful addition to the characters. I hope we see more of him in the next book in the series. God is not done with you if you are still living.
Hannon has a gift at weaving the storylines together seamlessly.
