Summary
Remembering First Love by Janine Lunceford. This is Book #1 in the Riviera sister’s series. Carina and Amelia are the two sisters. Amelia is the sister that always tried to do the right thing. Carina struggled doing the right thing; sometimes as a result of her own poor decisions and sometimes the result of others actions. You had to wonder if what happened to her as a child caused some of her adult bad decisions. The book as Christian undertones. Carina struggles with can God love her after everything she has done.
There were physical sex scenes and physical abuse scenes but they were behind closed doors. However the majority of the book Karina is lusting after Aaron. It wasn’t as much a romance book as it was a woman dealing with her inner physical feelings and not understanding that it isn’t love. She just wanted someone to love her so much that she’s willing to put up with abuse, physical and mental. The author explains why Aaron has so many issues because his mother left him as a child but you still couldn’t like his character. The author did a very good job of creating Carina‘s character in a way that although she made so many bad decisions you still supported her and felt bad for her. She wanted to do the right thing but didn’t have the willpower to do it and had to suffer the consequences.
There’s a second book in the series What About Love which picks up where the first book ends.
Sexual content. Again this is tough to rate as there were several scenes that you know something physical happened. But it was behind closed doors. A lot of meaningless sex. Rough sex and rape even with underage girls.
Violence- Spouse abuse. Molestation of a child with no details.
No language
Minor drinking
