Becoming united with John Gordon, Lord Ardoch, and his four children, leaving London and its gossip behind, was a blessing in disguise, but not an absolution of her guilt.
John Gordon had taken the advice of friends and wed the lovely Lady Helena, hoping to unite his family while he travels back and forth to Parliament sessions in London. Surprisingly, John finds Helena to be good company, raising his expectations and at the same time making it harder to guard his heart within their convenient arrangement. When it appears that trouble is brewing for his wife, John determines to defend her at all costs, demonstrating the kind of unconditional love that Helena never knew existed.
