Now, as this mythological yet very real being starts to fade in the burning August sun, a rescue is begun. On the edge of growing up, during a summer that is the hottest on record, Hailey and Claire are discovering that life can take an unpredictable course, friendship is forever, and magic can be found in the most unexpected places.

Book Title: Aquamarine
Book Author: Alice Hoffman
What do you like about this book:
Sadly, I found Aquamarine kind of boring. It was basically a normal mermaid story. Mermaid falls in love with boy. She has a limited time on land. she has help to meet said boy. Boy falls in love with mermaid. Mermaid has to leave. The boy and the mermaid are sad but in the end they find each other in the end. I mean it's basically Disney's The Little Mermaid with different details. I'm not saying it didn't have some originality though. I liked how the girls who helped Aquamarine were spending their last summer together. I bet they had a lot of fun. I recommend it to 8-10 year olds because it was a short book. The man characters were twelve and it was that basic storyline without too many twists and turns that I liked to read at that age.
