What do you like about this book:
This is a sweet book about a little boy, Yousuf, who shares time with his Daddy as he questions why everyone is different. Would everyone get along together if they looked the same and liked all the same things? His father prompts him to play the Imagination Time Travel Game to answer his question. The story goes on to describe the imaginary trip to an island where beautiful flowers are overtaken with weeds until Yousef encourages them to gather together and push the weeds away. The author, Dana Salim, shares quotes from three people who stood out in the world to try and make it a better place, the Prophet Muhammad, Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi.
The book is hardcover and nicely illustrated with bright, beautiful colors, by illustrator Pavel Goldaev. The faces of the people and birds are pleasing to look at which is important for books to share with young children in my opinion Our nearly two year old granddaughter likes to look at the colorful pages.
I'd give this book a three out of five stars. I liked the message that different is beautiful and the brightly colored illustrations.
