Interviewing Jerusalem Jackson Greer at CBA Unite 2017 was more like sitting on the porch with some sweet tea contemplating life with your girl friends. Jerusalem is the author of At Home in this Life and shared some of her tips from the book. For the last couple days I have been trying one of Jerusalem’s tips of turning off the noise. It has been refreshing even if a little uncomfortable at first.
I was excited to learn that Jerusalem is just down the road from us in central Arkansas and a member of the Arkansas Women’s Bloggers.
Takeaways:
- Our takeaways from Jerusalem’s interviews are:
- When all your dreams come unraveled, see what God has for you
- Slow down – life has seasons. It will come back around again.
- Turn off the noise; be in the quiet.
- Living in community is about stability, conversion and obedience.
- Find beauty in the mess.
About the Author – Jerusalem Jackson Greer’s writing has been called “beautiful,” by Ree Drummond (aka The Pioneer Woman,) incarnational by Sarah Bessey, and that of an “honest friend” by Shauna Niequist.
In addition to being a writer, Jerusalem is also a minister and speaker. She lives with her husband and two sons in Arkansas, along with their pet pig and a host of chickens. As a family they are attempting to live a slower version of the modern life. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. She writes about all of this and more at jerusalemgreer.com.
About the Book
Jerusalem writes with a raw honesty that reassures readers they are not alone in feeling not good enough, not wise enough, not Christian enough to figure out God’s plans.
Jerusalem is active on Facebook and Pinterest and regularly posts on her blog ‘Slow Living in a Fast World’ where she records what she calls her “beautymess” attempts at living a sacramental life
