Dee Henderson Pens Another Compelling Cold Case Mystery
Evie Blackwell’s reputation as a top investigator for the Illinois State Police has landed her an appointment to the governor’s new Missing Persons Task Force. Summary
I've been waiting a year for the next book in the Evie Blackwell cold case series. Thread of Suspicion by Dee Henderson came out this May and is just as good as the first book, Traces of Guilt.
Sharon Noble is in charge of a Missing Persons task force that was appointed by the governor. Evie is one of the members of the task force. In this book, she's partnered with David Marshall. Each of member of the task force is investigating their own missing persons case.
Evie chose the missing college girl and David chose the PI to investigate. It was fascinating how each of them had their own way of researching. David also has an interesting personal life that intertwines with the story. It was fascinating the research they go through and the different possible suspects and all the secrets that people have. On a personal note, Evie is still trying to figure out her feelings for Robert. There is a proposal on the table when she is ready. Dee wrote a more realistic story/romance regarding Evie and Robert. It's good, but I always prefer a fairytale romance where the couple are soulmates and destined to be together.
Ann and Paul also played a small role in this book. Ann helps Evie with some of her research. Ann always has fascinating friends and we meet a new one who I hope returns in future books.
The faith element is woven into the story seamlessly. They mystery of the cold cases is so fascinating I truly believe any fan of mystery, secular or Christian will love the book. Dee Henderson is a master at intertwining stories and keeping you in suspense. This is proven to be a great series. I wish we didn’t have to wait a year for the next one.
