When Maddy McKay and Quinn Holcombe don’t show up for Quinn’s surprise birthday party, his friends know that something is very wrong. Their search turns up little beyond evidence that Quinn and Maddy just decided to take off for a long overdue vacation. But it soon becomes apparent that they did not leave of their own accord.
Maddy awakens in a cement room with no idea where she is. But it’s not long before she realizes she’s in the clutches of a madman exacting revenge by hunting. His prey of choice? Humans. Now Maddy and Quinn must run for their lives, hoping to find their killer before the next game begins. Because if they don’t win this game, they die.
Fast, furious, and flirty, Lynette Eason’s relentless suspense barely gives her readers time to catch their breath in this third thrilling installment of the Elite Guardians series.

Summary
Moving Target by Lynette Eason is book three in the Elite Guardians series. I read where Eason described the book as a cross between the Hunger Games and Survivor and I would agree with that description wholeheartedly. The tension in the beginning is full throttle.
In case you haven’t been reading the series (which I would highly recommend), Quinn is a Detective and Maddy is a former FBI agent who is now a body guard. Quinn is working a serial killer case that he and Maddy end up being the focal point of. The Chosen One was one of the creepiest villains with his need to play games with his victims. The scenes on the island where they were kidnapped were described so well that you were holding your breath.
I reveled in the scenes where the whole group was sitting around the table brainstorming different solutions and what different clues might mean. You feel like you are solving the case with them. I don’t want to spoil anything so I will not share who I thought might be the villain.
In addition to the case they are trying to solve, Quinn and Maddy are dealing with difficult family issues and guilt from their past. I enjoyed how Eason revealed their past situations which had unanticipated outcomes. I felt the situation between Quinn and his dad was realistic. So many times there are misunderstandings that cause such strife.
My one warning…. The excerpt for Chasing Secrets leaves you craving the rest of Haley’s story.
Eason is one of my favorite writers and Moving Target definitely keeps her on that list with the perfect balance of romance and breath taking suspense. It is a well plotted novel that I enjoyed from start to finish.
Sexual content: kissing
