Summary
Overall Woman of Grace is the second book in the Brides of Culdee Creek series by Kathleen Morgan. This novel picks up where the first novel of the series left off, except this time the main character is Hannah Cutler, a former prostitute who was given safe haven at Culdee Creek ranch owned by Conor MacKay and his new bride Abigail. Some common themes are visited in this novel. First the former prostitute seeking to put her old life behind her and start fresh. Secondly, a woman giving birth only to die, but the surviving child suckles at the breast of the former prostitute and thrives. Third, a handsome young man falls for the former prostitute, but gets his heart broken when she does not return his love. So, while the themes are fairly common, Ms. Morgan has done a good job developing her characters in such a way that you don't mind the common plot line. Besides, she adds her own twists and turns that make you want to keep reading. Much emphasis is placed on forgiveness and extending grace. At times I found the character of Hannah to be a little too perfect. But overall, I think I would like to be her friend. Devlin MacKay, on the other hand, was such a jerk, then made a sudden transformation not without a setback here and there but it was still a little hard to swallow. I did enjoy the book and would recommend it to others.
