Summary
Overall Chloe has been raised in a privileged home, but under the oppression of a cold, indifferent, and socially rigid mother and a father who only sees Chloe as a pawn in his political game. When a childhood friend introduces Chloe to handsome Theran Black, she quickly falls for him and agrees to elope with him. Unfortunately, Theran is
to be shipped out to the European theater of WW 1 mere days after their marriage. Chloe must adjust to life on her own and working to make ends meet and then she finds she is pregnant. Upon receiving the news that her new husband has died, Chloe returns home to Ivy Manor and her parents. The story carries on with Chloe searching for meaning and purpose to her life, and along the way comes to terms with who she is. This is the first of four books in a series.
