A corrupt judge in a mob murder case. A disillusioned pastor, hungry for power. A cynical reporter, sniffing for a scandal. A gambling addict whose secret tape threatens the lives of everyone who hears it. New York Times bestselling author, Lee Strobel, weaves these edgy characters into an intricate thriller set in a gleaming, suburban megachurch, a big-city newspaper struggling for survival, and the shadowy corridors of political intrigue. The unexpected climax is as gripping as the contract killing that punctuates the opening scene.

Summary
Overall I know Lee Strobel as a masterful apologist for Christianity and a Biblical worldview. I was surprised to discover that he is also a great fiction author! His first novel displays his early prowess as a legal journalist combined with his understanding of modernday Christianity especially as represented by the socalled megachurch
(since he has been pastor of two large churches). I read the book in one day because I didn't want to put it down. The characters are diverse from Chicago mobsters
to skeptical reporters to devout pastors and are all well-developed and believable. Strobel does not take the easy route of stereotypes or one-dimensional characters. They are often conflicted and confused. The plot is not predictable either kept me guessing up to the last page. I would recommend this book for anyone.
Violence there are several incidents of violent behavior but none are graphic or offensive.
Language Stobel manages to make his rough characters totally believable without resorting to crude language.
Sexual there is some romance but very understated the only time sex is implied is when it is being rejected as immoral.
