In Jubal Sackett, the second generation of Louis L’Amour’s great American family pursues a destiny in the wilderness of a sprawling new land.
Jubal Sackett’s urge to explore drove him westward, and when a Natchez priest asks him to undertake a nearly impossible quest, Sackett ventures into the endless grassy plains the Indians call the Far Seeing Lands. He seeks a Natchez exploration party and its leader, Itchakomi. It is she who will rule her people when their aging chief dies, but first she must vanquish her rival, the arrogant warrior Kapata. Sackett’s quest will bring him danger from an implacable enemy . . . and show him a life—and a woman—worth dying for.

Summary
Overall I love Louis L\"Amour's books. they are filled with main characters that you love or hate the men are heroic courageous smart and handy with a gun. The Sackett family is a particular favorite of mine. Jubal isn't the first in the series about this family but it doesn't matter where you start you will want to read them all. This makes me want to trace my family tree and see if i have anyone that matches with these pioneers. they were all about the wide open spaces and looking at the horizon. I think for young boys these books are especially good. But that never stopped me from reading them.
Violence They do have violence in them but the bad guy never wins which is a given in any L'Amour book. It was a time in history that people had to defend themselves
and it always seems appropriate.
Language
Sexual once and awhile you will have a kiss in one of his books. But if you are looking for romance you won't be disappointed there is always a love interest. I have a crush
on all the Sackett men.
