Summary
Overall I love this book! I love this author! In reading Ms. Lessman's bio, I discovered she loves a good romance but in her own relationship with the Lord and study of His Word, she found that God is the greatest romantic of all! I love this line from her bio: \"Through my love affair with Him, I have discovered that romance can transcend to another dimension where romantic passion and spiritual passion merge, creating a 3D love story: the hero, the heroine, and the God that brings them together.\" You can count on the novels she crafts to be exactly that! A Hope Undaunted is the first book in a series called Winds of Change. This book and series continues the story of the O'Connor family of Boston of the early 1900s. That story is a trio of books called The Daughters of Boston series with the titles: A Passion Most Pure, A Passion Redeemed, and A Passion Denied. You don't have to read these books first, because A Hope Undaunted is so well crafted that it can stand alone, and you will still love the story. But if you're like me, and it's a series that encompasses one family or story line, I like to read them in order. Katie Rose, the central O'Connor character in this book is the youngest child of the six O'Connors; the reader sees her at the beginning of the story as a spoiled brat with iffy morals. But through the plot of the story, we see her mature in her desires and in what kind of man turns her head. The author does a beautiful job of letting the reader inside the
head of her characters, where we can see some thinking and behavior that may be pretty familiar territory for us something with which we, as the reader, can empathize.
The author does not rush her story, nor does she drag it out. She has the perfect timing the perfect tension that leaves you hungering for more of the story. Solid Biblical worldview. I can't wait to read the rest of the series A Heart Revealed and A Love Surrendered. In addition, there is a prequel (the story of the parents) available, too: A Light in the Window. That makes seven books about the O'Connor family! Happy reading!
Violence Fist fights. A rape without details.
