Summary
Overall The second book in Janette Oke's Canadian West series leaves her readers shivering along with her characters! Wynn and Elizabeth have begun their marriage with Wynn's new assignment in the far north of Canada where we experience a frigid snowy Canadian winter right along with them. Elizabeth grows into her role as a wife, learning the value of trusting her husband. I appreciate the scenes that Mrs. Oke includes, and the emotional struggles that make Elizabeth and Wynn real people to her readers. Trust was definitely an important quality for each to have in the wilds of Canada, but I was left understanding that being able to trust the heart of your spouse is of value always. Mrs. Oke writes books with characters of integrity, yet they aren't holierthanthough characters in which we cannot find ourselves. I always grow as I read Mrs.
Oke's books and imagine myself in the midst of the characters' circumstances.
