Summary
Overall A prodigal son type story. Three year old twins, heiresses to a multibillion dollar fortune, are removed from the care of their stepmother when their deceased biological mother's parents gain custody of them. Raised in squalor and with a lack of affection, the girls grow up believing the hateful lies their custodial grandparents feed them, namely that their stepmother is a monster who killed their father and mother and paternal grandparents. They are also led to believe that she stole
their inheritance from them; they are never told that they receive a significantly large sum of money every year that was more than sufficient for their care. Of course, they would never believe it because they never saw any of it, not even the slightest bit of evidence of it. This book will not be an easy read for anyone with a strong spiritual gift of mercy. It is a story of being carried off into bondage, filth, and spiritual darkness, but it is also a story of redemption, being made clean, and
responding to the light of truth. It is a picture for us of how The Lord must certainly grieve when we are immersed in lives of filth, lies, and darkness. So many beautiful spiritual applications in this story, but perhaps my favorite is that Jesus jealously keeps my inheritance for me in heaven where moth and rust and thieves cannot destroy.
