Who would you trust if stumbled into another dimension? The voice you have been hearing your whole life or the new friends you meet?

Most teenagers don’t have a voice talking in their heads, but
that’s pretty normal for Kas. It’s been there her whole life, giving her
directions, keeping her from harm. When the voice advises against the family
picnic in the mountains, she’s sure there’s a reason, but convincing her mom is
another matter.
While in
the mountains, Kas accidentally stumbles on a gateway to another dimension.
Almost immediately, her life is in peril. From a disembodied man known only as
Milord and a hoard of hooded men who want her soul, she doesn’t know who to
trust in this strange place where dreams become reality.
As Kas
learns more about who she is and how she came to the Waymeet of Worlds, it
becomes clear that someone is lying to her. But is it the voice she’s known her
whole life or the new friends she finds in Milord’s castle. Choosing the wrong
people to trust could cost her soul and prevent her from fulfilling her destiny.

Kas has heard the voice in her head her whole life. While the rest of her family has learned to accept that Kas is a little different, she often finds herself wondering why she doesn’t seem to fit in with any of them. When the voice tells her a trip to the mountains is too dangerous, she defies it and goes anyway. And, that trip changes her whole life. She falls, hits her head and wakes up in the Waymeet of Worlds, a place between our world and another, where she learns that she is different for a reason. With the help of Milord and a host of characters, Kas begins to explore a life of chivalry and rules that is so different from her own. When she comes to and returns to the “real” world, Kas knows that there is something bigger going on. As her family worries for her safety and sanity, Kas makes the decision to face her destiny head on, and that will change the balance of power in not just her world, but another place, as well. Karlie Lucas creates a world within a world in Kas. While it took me awhile to get into the story, once I did, I was hooked. Kas is a character full of passion, but still young, confused and unsure what the future holds. My favorite part of this book was definitely the things that happen within in the Waymeet of Worlds, including Kas’s interactions with Milord, a character that is easily the most complex of the entire story. Kas is book one of a series, and I am excited to see what is next
